Author Interview: Julianna Baggott

Julianna Baggott has written Pure.

1. What is the name of your most recent book and if you had to sum it up in 20 or less words, what would you say?
PURE is a post-apocalyptic dystopian thriller, film rights have sold to Fox2000 -- a YA-adult crossover about haves and have-nots and the endurance of love.

2. Do you have plans for a new book? Is this book part of a series?
It's a trilogy. FUSE, the second book in the trilogy, will be published this time next year.

3. Would you have different book covers for different countries?
There are thirteen foreign editions of PURE. Not all will have the same cover.

4. Do you have a book trailer? And what are your thoughts on book trailers?
I'm drawn to artful book trailers -- but only if they are compelling in and of themselves. I was hugely relieved when I saw the trailer for PURE -- done by a studio in the UK. They captured the book in tone. Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZknTMhd9RL0

5. Do you prefer e-books, paperbacks, hardcovers or audiobooks?
I don't mind a book that's so old and beat-up that it falls apart in your hands as you read it.

6. What book are you reading at the moment? And in what format?
I'm reading old medical texts that I couldn't easily find in print so I'm reading them on google books.

7. Do you have any advice for other writers? And what’s the best advice that you have been given when it comes to writing?
Protect your relationship with the page. Don't focus on the publishing industry until you've put years into the craft. Read the books you love to take leaps. Learn to listen to criticism keenly. Keep sitting down and writing.

8. Where can your readers follow you?
