The Maze Runner by James Dashner

ISBN: 9781908435132
Publisher: Chicken House
Pages: 384

When Thomas wakes up in the lift, the only thing he can remember is his first name. He has no recollection of his parents, his home, or how he got where he is. His memory is empty.

But he's not alone. When the lift's doors open, Thomas finds himself surrounded by kids who welcome him to the Glade, a large expanse enclosed by stone walls.

Just like Thomas, the Gladers don't know why or how they got to the Glade. All they know is that every morning, for as long as anyone can remember, the stone doors to the maze that surrounds them have opened. Every night, for just as long, they've closed tight. Every thirty days a new boy is delivered in the lift. And no one wants to be stuck in the Maze after dark.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading The Maze Runner by James Dashner! I really liked how the reader learnt about the Maze and the Gladers, at the same time as the main character, Thomas discovered them himself! I loved reading about the concept of the Maze, the Gladers & the Grievers, as well as how they reacted in response to one another! My favourite character was Newt, mainly because as he was one of the original Gladers he takes on a role of authority, looking after and advising the other younger Gladers. I like the cover of The Maze Runner as it represents the story and it's dystopian atmosphere well, without giving away too much of the plot. I would definitely recommend The Maze Runner!
